a pie - al pie - de pie - en pie

Cada día un poco de práctica (Every day a little practice):

a pie - al pie - de pie - en pie

a pie = sin usar un vehículo sino sus pies (on foot = without using a vehicle, but his feet)
al pie = al lado de la parte baja de algo (at the foot = next to the bottom of something)
de pie = parado (standing up)
en pie = recuperado (recovered); listo para (ready for); válido/vigente (valid)

Ejemplos:

1) A su auto se le acabó la gasolina y él tuvo que seguir a pie. (His car ran out of gas and he had to continue on foot.)

2) Estas flores las recogí al pie de ese árbol. (I picked these flowers at the foot of that tree.)

3) Como no había asientos libres, él se mantuvo de pie durante toda la función. (Since there were no seats left, he remained standing up throughout the show.)

4) Ya se curó de sus males y ahora está en pie. (He is already cured of his ills and is now recovered.)

5) La tribu está en pie de guerra. (The tribe is ready for war.)

6) Lo que te dije ayer sigue en pie. (What I told you yesterday is still valid.)
