La pronunciación de la 'll' y la 'y'.

La ‘ll’ y la ‘y’ tienen un sonido diferente (muchos dicen que ligeramente diferente) que se puede notar en el habla de la gente de ciertas regiones de España (por ejemplo, Castilla). En Argentina y Uruguay la ‘ll’ es pronunciada como la ‘ch’ francesa o la ‘sh’ inglesa. En el sur de España y en muchos países latinoamericanos la ‘ll’ y la ‘y’ se pronuncian igual (la ‘ll’ como la ‘y’); este fenómeno lingüístico se llama ‘yeísmo’ y es algo cada vez más extendido.

The 'll' and the 'y' have a different sound (many say it is slightly different) that can be noticed in the speech of people of certain regions of Spain (eg, Castilla). In Argentina and Uruguay, the 'll' is pronounced as the French 'ch' or the English 'sh'. In southern Spain and many Latin American countries the 'll' and the 'y' are pronounced the same (the 'll' as the 'y'); this linguistic phenomenon is called 'yeísmo' and is becoming increasingly widespread.
