Cuando digo: ‘Lo compré por ti’, esto puede tener dos significados.
1) Lo compré en tu lugar (me dijiste que no tenías tiempo para ir a comprarlo, así que yo fui y lo compré).
2) Lo compré debido a ti (hay varias posibilidades: porque me lo recomendaste, porque lo vas a necesitar, porque insististe en que lo comprara u otras).

Another confusing expression

When I say, 'Lo compré por ti (I bought it for you)', this can have two meanings.
1) I bought it instead of you (you said you did not have time to go to buy it, so I went and bought it).
2) I bought it because of you (there are several possibilities: because you recommended it to me, because you will need it, because you insisted that I should buy it or other reasons).
