Calentito/calientito es el diminutivo de caliente. En España, Argentina y Uruguay dicen calentito. En México y Centroamérica dicen calientito. En el Caribe dicen calientito o calientico. En otros países de Suramérica lo dicen de cualquiera de estas maneras con preferencia en ‘calientito’.

¿Cuál es la forma correcta? Veamos la conjugación en presente del verbo ‘calentar’. Yo caliento, tú calientas, él/ella calienta, nosotros calentamos, vosotros calentáis, ellos/ellas calientan.

Podemos ver que cuando la forma verbal tiene diptongo el acento está en la sílaba con diptongo (-lien, -táis). Igualmente, en los adjetivos ‘caliente’ y ‘ardiente’ (verbo arder) el acento está en la sílaba con diptongo.

En el diminutivo 'calientito' el acento no está en la sílaba con diptongo sino en la sílaba -ti. Por tanto, esta palabra no sigue la regla. Así, parece ser que la palabra correcta es "calentito".

In the diminutive 'calientito' the stress tone is not on the syllable with a diphthong but rather in the syllable -ti. Therefore, this word does not follow the rule. Thus, it appears that the correct word is "calentito.")
