dónde

Cada día un poco de práctica (Every day a little practice):

Mucha gente sabe que la palabra “donde” se acentúa cuando se usa en interrogaciones y exclamaciones.

Ejemplos:
a) ¿Dónde están las aceitunas? = ¿En qué lugar están las aceitunas?
b) ¡Dónde más podrían estar! ¡En la alacena! = ¡En qué otro lugar podrían estar! ¡En la alacena!

La palabra “donde” lleva acento cuando se puede reemplazar por “qué lugar” o “en qué lugar” aunque no sea en interrogaciones o exclamaciones.

Ejemplos:
c) Es que no sabía dónde las guardas = Es que no sabía en qué lugar las guardas
d) Voy a leer la etiqueta para ver de dónde son estas aceitunas = Voy a leer la etiqueta para ver de qué lugar son estas aceitunas

(Many people know that the word "donde" (where) is accentuated when used in questions and exclamations.

Examples:
a) Where are the olives? = What place are the olives in?
b) Where else they could be! In the cupboard! = In what place they could be! In the cupboard!

The word "donde" (where) has an accent when you can replace "what place" or "where in" even if it were not in questions or exclamations.

Examples:
c) I did not know where you keep them = I did not know in what place you keep them
d) I will read the label to see from where are these olives = I'll read the label to see from what place are these olives)
