Más sobre el subjuntivo (different combinations)

Cada día un poco de práctica (Every day a little practice):

Más sobre el subjuntivo (different combinations)
Presente de Indicativo con Presente de Subjuntivo
Ejemplo:
They ask me to speak at the opening ceremony
Pretérito de Indicativo con Presente de Subjuntivo
Ejemplo:
They asked me to speak at the opening ceremony
Pretérito de Indicativo con Pretérito Imperfecto de Subjuntivo
Ejemplos:
They asked me to speak at the opening ceremony = They asked me if I could speak at the opening ceremony
They asked me if I could speak at the opening ceremony
This can be confusing: a) They wanted me to speak at the opening of the event, or b) At the opening I was asked to speak (There or at another time?)
Imperfecto de Indicativo con Pretérito Imperfecto de Subjuntivo
Ejemplo:
They asked me to speak at the opening ceremony = They asked me if I would speak at the opening ceremony
They asked me if I would speak at the opening ceremony
See the difference: Ellos esperaban que hablara en la inauguración del evento = They hoped I would speak at the opening ceremony (using the subjunctive in Spanish as the conditional in English)
Futuro de Indicativo con Presente de Subjuntivo
Ejemplo:
They will ask me to speak at the opening ceremony
