Ayudar como verbo transitivo ("Ayudar" as a transitive verb)

Muchos hablantes nativos de español dicen, “¿puedo ayudarle en algo?”, lo cual es incorrecto si se considera al verbo “ayudar” como transitivo.
Esto es porque ellos creen que “ayudarle” se refiere a “usted” y “ayudarlo” se refiere a “él”.
Pero en realidad, se debe decir, “¿puedo ayudarlo en algo?” para ambos “usted” y “él” porque el pronombre “lo” se usa como complemento directo y el pronombre “le” como complemento indirecto. También "ayudarla", "ayudarlos" y "ayudarlas".
Ejemplo:
“Pedro le compró un libro a Ana” (“un libro” es complemento directo y “a Ana” es complemento indirecto).
Reemplazando el complemento directo: Pedro lo compró (para Ana)
Reemplazando el complemento indirecto: Pedro le compró un libro
Reemplazando ambos: Pedro se lo compró

Many native Spanish speakers say, “¿puedo ayudarle en algo?” (Can I help you?), which is incorrect if we consider the verb "ayudar" as transitive.
This is because they believe that "ayudarle" refers to “usted” (formal you) and “ayudarlo” refers to “él” (him).
But really, you should say, “¿puedo ayudarlo en algo?” (Can I help you?) for both " usted " and "él" because the pronoun "lo" is used as a direct object and the pronoun "le" as indirect object. Also "ayudarla" for her, "ayudarlos" (masculine plural) and "ayudarlas" (feminine plural).
Example:
“Pedro le compró un libro a Ana” (Peter bought a book for Anna) ("a book" is the direct object and "for Anna" is the indirect object).
Replacing the direct object: Pedro lo compró (para Ana) (Peter bought it for Anna)
Replacing the indirect object: Pedro le compró un libro (Peter bought her a book or Peter bought a book for her)
Replacing both: Pedro se lo compró (Peter bought it for her)
