Cada día un poco de práctica (Every day a little practice):

Flotar – hacer /poner a flotar

Flotar (por uno mismo) = To float (by oneself)
Ejemplo:
Amaneció un pececito muerto flotando en la pecera = Early in the morning there was a little fish floating dead in the tank

Hacer flotar /poner a flotar = To float (placing into the water or another substance like gas)
Ejemplo:
En la feria, en aquel tanque, los organizadores pusieron a flotar los paticos de goma = At the fair, in that tank, organizers floated the rubber ducklings
